Terms of service.

Last updated August 2026. These terms apply to every order placed with Platypus Printing Co., a California print production business.

1. What we do

We are a print production shop. We print, cut, laminate, pack, and ship custom large-format goods for events. We do not provide design services. We do not redraw, retype, or edit your artwork. Our preflight tool tells you whether a file is technically printable; it does not judge layout, spelling, or typography.

2. Quotes and pricing

Prices shown in the configurator and PDF quote tool are estimates based on the dimensions, materials, quantity, finishing, and turnaround you enter. If the artwork or specs you send differ from what was configured, we will re-quote before printing. Freight-rated (oversize or heavy) orders are quoted for shipping after the order is placed and billed by emailed link.

3. Payment and authorization

You enter your card at checkout, which places an authorization hold — nothing is charged until you approve your proof. We capture payment after your proof approval. Card authorizations expire roughly seven days after they are placed; if your approval falls outside that window we send a payment link instead. You may also skip card entry and pay by emailed invoice link after approval. Production does not begin until both proof approval and payment arrangement are in place.

4. Proof approval — the core of our process

We produce a digital proof for every order and send it to you for review through a private link. We print exactly what you approve. Approving the proof means you have checked spelling, layout, dimensions, colors, and content, and you authorize production of that file as shown. Errors present in an approved proof are not eligible for a free reprint.

You can request changes instead of approving. Changes reset the production clock — turnaround is counted from approval, not from checkout.

5. Your artwork and your rights

You represent that you own or have permission to print the artwork you supply, including logos, photography, fonts, and licensed characters. You are responsible for spelling, layout, and licensing. We may decline any job we believe infringes a third party's rights or is unlawful.

You keep all rights to your artwork. We use it only to produce your job. We may photograph finished work for our portfolio unless you tell us in writing not to.

6. Color

Printed colors may vary from your monitor. We calibrate our presses but do not offer Pantone matching or color-managed contract proofs. If exact color is critical, request a paid physical proof before production.

7. Turnaround, rush, and delivery

Turnaround is production time, not a delivery date. It starts on proof approval — proofs approved by 10:00 AM Pacific enter production the same business day. Shipping transit is additional and controlled by the carrier. Rush options prioritize your job in the queue but are subject to shop capacity and are not guaranteed. If we cannot hit a rush window, we will contact you before charging rush.

8. Shipping, pickup, and risk of loss

Risk of loss passes to you on carrier pickup. Rigid goods ship boxed; rolled vinyl ships in tubes. Local pickup at the shop is free and by appointment — we do not accept walk-ins and we do not run timed on-site event deliveries. Carrier delays are not grounds for a refund of the printed goods.

9. Cancellations, returns, and defects

Custom-printed goods cannot be returned. Cancellation and defect handling are covered in full in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost event revenue, venue costs, or rebooking fees.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes are handled in the state or federal courts serving San Bernardino County, California.
